Presented at the 14th edition of Lo schermo dell'arte, 2021 In the early 1970s, a group of young people founded the Centro per la Sperimentazione e la Ricerca Teatrale in the Tuscan town of Pontedera. Inspired by the experiences of Odin Teatret, they give life to a real community that reflects on theater as a place where change occurs and where people interact with the public in different ways. The stories of the protagonists and founders of this experience are reinterpreted by the actors Lino Musella and Anna Bellato using the verbatim technique, which consists in reciting the interviews live while listening to them with earphones. The vibrant voices of the actors are combined with historical images, photos and video materials to create a multifaceted collage of an experience lived and transmitted in person. An artist’s vision on the energy of the origins and a critical reflection of the works and activities that have characterized Centro Pontedera. Fuori dai Teatri is an investigation of an artistic vision that turned a provincial town into an international capital of theater which has hosted seminars, shows, authors and world-famous actors.
