Presented at Lo schermo dell'arte 2012 After having followed projects produced for Monumenta by Christian Boltanski in 2010 and Anish Kapoor in 2011 (both films were screened at Lo schermo dell’arte Film Festival), Heinz Peter Schwerfel followed Daniel Buren, protagonist of the noted international art appointment’s 5th Edition, in order to document backstage events and the inauguration of his piece, Excentrique(s), travail in situ. With the French artist’s cooperation, the director re-traces the course of his work – returning to his first street actions, covering billboard ads with his characteristic vertical bands, up to the modification of the Grand Palais’ spaces through the use of color, light and sound – with commentary provided by Buren, interspersed with suggestive day-and-night footage.
