Schermo dell'Arte - Archivio Film
Presented at Lo schermo dell'arte Film Festival 2011

Born from a collaborative project developed over seven years, Armin Linke’s film is an ‘archive within an archive’ of significant images, sounds and situations linked to the vast alpine territory. Developed in a disjointed manner to suggest possible travel itineraries, Alpi visually and physically takes us far away in space and time, running through the nations along the mountain range and beyond their borders, on to the artificial snow in Dubai, crossing the mountain spaces where the dimensions of work and leisure time intersect, including the cattle-drives of our anthropological roots. Photography, sound and editing present a faceted, articulated vision in accordance with the different representational levels of the Alps’ complex identity, suggesting different keys for interpretation on what they are and what they represent today, in reality and in the collective imagination, according to art and according to the sciences.
