Con i denti tra i coltelli retraces the 2023/24 sports season of PVM (Polisportiva Valle del Mugnone), an amateur men’s basketball team from Florence, through the lens of one of its players, artist and performer Roberto Fassone. The film alternates between internal footage of the group during gameplay, local gyms, discussions during practices and in locker rooms, and images from the world of professional basketball, along with various experimental audiovisual materials sourced from the internet, ranging from the Lumière brothers to artificial intelligence. A hybrid of the author’s love poetry for the camaraderie experienced within the group, a diary, and a mixtape, Con i denti tra i coltelli unfolds in four episodes, like the quarters of a basketball game, portraying on a small scale the joys and dramas of both personal and collective daily life.
