The relevance of the poetics of Arte Povera, considered the most important postwar contribution to art in Italy, comes to life in this documentary through interviews with its key figures such as Giulio Paolini, Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Gilberto Zorio, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Giovanni Anselmo, and Beatrice Merz. In addition to an exclusive conversation with Germano Celant, filmed in 2019 at the Prada Foundation at Ca’ Corner in Venice, the narration by Giuseppe Cederna guides the viewer through artist studios, foundations, galleries, and museums in a collective work that becomes a detailed report tracing the history of the movement from 1967 to present day. Among iconic masterpieces and original footage from the era, the documentary presents an incredible account of Arte Povera and its innovative language, which transcended national borders. Currently, a major exhibition dedicated to the movement is on display at the Bourse de Commerce, Pinault Collection in Paris, curated by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev.
