Lo schermo dell’arte is dedicated to promoting moving images to young audiences through the Oltre lo schermo project.
Between 2024 and 2025, four activities will be carried out to introduce children to the language of cinema and the production of short films. These activities are designed for preschool, primary, and lower secondary school students from the Istituti Comprensivi Pirandello in District 4 of the Municipality of Florence and Pelago (FI).
The project is carried out as part of the Piano Nazionale Cinema e Immagini per la Scuola, promoted by MiC and MiM.
Additionally, the initiative Come in un film has received support from Fondazione CR Firenze as part of PARTECIPAZIONE CULTURALE, the thematic call dedicated to supporting cultural programs aimed at enhancing active community participation and promoting social inclusion in peripheral areas.
Cinema La Compagnia, Florence, November 13-14, 2024
Cinema Italia, Pontassieve, December 11-12, 2024
Lo schermo dell’arte Young is a film series curated by Anna Ricciardi, aimed at second and third-year students of lower secondary schools from the Istituti Comprensivi Pirandello and Pelago. The series took place during the 17th edition of Lo schermo dell’arte at Cinema La Compagnia in Florence and continued with two additional days of screenings at Cinema Italia in Pontassieve.
The selected films spanned various genres and formats—feature films, animated shorts, documentaries, and fiction—and address social issues such as environmental sustainability and migration, inviting students to reflect on these topics.
The project involved collaboration with Milo Adami, a filmmaker and instructor at ISIA in Urbino, a CIPS trainer, and the founder of the 24FPS association. It also included the participation of students from the Universities of Pisa and Florence: Marco Abbenante, Camilla Bomberini, Francesco Chiavacci, Giovanni Giacomazzo, and Eleonora Pilia.
Educational Kit – Classroom Follow-Up Activities
In the days following the film screenings, an educational kit will be shared with the teachers of the participating classes. This kit includes proposals for activities to deepen the exploration of the films’ content (civic education) and exercises for visual text analysis (audiovisual education).
The activities can be tailored to the specific needs of each class, depending on the teachers’ creativity and the time they wish to dedicate to them. They can adopt a single-disciplinary focus or take a multidisciplinary and cross-curricular approach.

Stills dei video
Ciak&Play
