A first portrait of American artist Mark Lombardi (1951-2000), whose conceptual maps, gathered under the title “Narrative Structures”, reveal the relations between politics and finance by researching, storing and organizing information in the form of elegant graphic data-clouds taken from every conceivable source. “It’s all public information. I’m just reprocessing it. I am rearranging it in a visual format that’s meaningful to me. This is basically what I am doing. This is one way in which I can map the kind of the political and the social terrain in which I live”.
The documentary traces Lombardi’s entire biography (he was one of the protagonists of Documenta 13, Kassel 2012), interpolating fragments from the rare films of the artist and interviews with his family and close friends.
