The exhibition VISIO. Next Generation Moving Images, curated by Leonardo Bigazzi, will take place at the Strozzina, Palazzo Strozzi and will present a video work for each of the 12 participating artists at the IV edition of VISIO. The exhibition offers an insight into the film and video production of a new generation of artists, all born in the eighties, which lived the full transition from analogue to digital.
This exhibition aims at featuring the multiplicity of codes and themes used by these young artists who move between reality and fiction facing socio-political issues, working on the nature of digital images or even challenging the very structure of the language of cinema. At the same time, this is an occasion to reflect on the use of different types of video works in the exhibition space. The selected works therefore represent the scope of media and formats used in the practice of contemporary video making: from analogue to digital, from single-channel videos and films on monitors or projected on screens up to more complex video installations.
A part of the exhibition area will be devoted to seminars, encounters and workshops, which will be held every Thursday until the exhibition closes, with guests such as Andrea Bellini, director of the Centre d’Art Contemporain in Geneva, Erika Balson, a lecturer at King’s College London, and Jason Wood, Art Director (Film) with HOMEmcr in Manchester. While the artists themselves will be presenting their work to the public on Wednesday 18 November.

VISIO Young Talent Acquisition Prize I Edition is assigned by Seven Gravity Collection to Rebecca Digne for the work Kino Peinture (2008):
Rebecca’s video work literally and unanimously seduced us. In the few seconds of the movie, the artist succeeds first in turning a poetic video portrait into an homage to the cinema and traditional painting, and simultaneously reveals several factors such as time, gesture, color, the viewers’ modes of perception.
