Presented at Lo schermo dell'arte 2019 Cristian Pirjol’s film follows Manifesto’s production, and provides an in-depth look at Julian Rosefeldt’s highly successful work. Thoughts and ideas are captured in backstage interviews, and sequences with actress Cate Blanchett. Rosefeldt met Blanchett in 2010, and was fascinated by her transformation as Bob Dylan in I’m Not Here. He chose the Australian actress for different roles in Manifesto, a complex work created in a double installation and feature-length film formats, in which the manifestoes of many 20th century artists, architects, writers, directors and choreographers take shape in 12 scenes which pack poetic power and meaning for the present.
